[Being a guard in Koriko means you shoulder the responsibility of keeping things in check as much as possible, you need to be prepared both physically and mentally to whatever comes up. One of the constant challenges includes getting into arguments or even fistfights with patrons and stall owners alike almost in a daily basis. It's by no means a light task, but all the same, Luna doesn't mind doing it. It's actually somewhat more manageable than fighting to kill and survive.

Needless to say, Luna has seen some shit, both in his old world and Koriko.

So when there being a ruckus of various stall owners yelling at some greedy patron, he simply goes into his business mode and approach the scene in a calm yet intimidating manner. ]

You're disrupting the harmony of this area, leave now or I'm forced to take extreme action.

[However, his step slightly falters when he takes a good look at who the offender is.]

[ Of course, Ringo still attracts trouble wherever she goes. Doesn't matter if it's back in post-apocalyptic Japan or Capitalism Island, she's always there to raise hell somehow.

And yes, it usually involves food.

Like right now. The ramen place tucked in the shady corner of the district is getting rowdy as Ringo's arguing with a piglike spirit customer. The crowd is forming from the outside, and when Luna manages to get through all that-- ]

I told you, that special ramen's rightfully mine! Ya can't just butt in like that!

[ She turns to Luna, and... Nope. Also can't remember him. She does try catching his attention, though. ]

Hey! Tell that guy that he's outta his freakin' mind! He started it!

[Of course he has his own reservations about the Remnants of Despair, Ringo is no exception to his judgement and unending ire, however he's also aware that he needs to remain impartial in all times. Even if it is tempting to just lay the blame on the former gymnast.

The spirit Ringo pointed splutters and tries to defend their case, their snout going crazy as they constantly snorted between answers. A nervous gesture that's clear as day. Luna's shoulders briefly falls before rising back, he lets out an inaudible sigh. No yeah, he can't blame her at all.]

I would like both sides to cooperate, can you both tell me what happened?

[The pig spirit squealed and keeps telling him that no! The girl is at fault! Punish her, drag her back to the Witch!]

Sir, if you aren't willing to share your side of the story, then it's clear whose at fault in this case.

[That caused the spirit to fall silent. He turns to Ringo and nods at her, go on. Much as he hates it.]

[ Okay, time for her chance to testify. This seems all familiar to her, lmao. ]

'Kay. So apparently, there's only one serving of the special ramen available tonight, and I just HAD to have it, y'know? So I called dibs on it! But then this guy [ points at the irate patron ] said that HE ordered it first! And I say that's bullshit! I ordered first!

[ And then the ruckus starts yet again. Ringo is this close to losing it, but not in a Despair way, if that's Luna is thinking. She doesn't even remember what she did, exactly! ]

Luna on the other hand has no idea, but he's familiar enough with debates and looking over testimonies, for most parts.

The pig-like spirit called foul on the accusation and immediately demand for Ringo to be locked up in a cell for misbehavior. Do they even have cells, Luna can't entirely recall.]

And, what else? Where there any reservations to be booked before? When did either of you heard of this special?

[The patron stammers, rattling off a vague time of 'awhile back.]

[ They can't arrest her, she's the cake boss! ]

Reservations? This isn't some goddamn gourmet restaurant, you know! I just saw the sign outside and came in ordering that!

[ But the pig patron insisted that they ordered it first!! So the waiter comes in and says that they must've ordered it at the exact same time. ]

That's bullshit!

[You can still reserve an order in advance, he'd argue, but that would just derail the conversation.

Spirits and non-worldly creatures alike all started to pitch on their own suggestions on the situation. Behind the mask, Luna grits his teeth. ]

We'll bring a second witness to this after the chef.

[A small, piglet spirit steps put. Her tiny fingers fidgeting about as she offers her statement, beady eyes shifting back and forth between the bigger pig and the floor.

The piglet takes awhile to explain, meanwhile Luna observes the two parties and how the portly spirit looks increasingly nervous.

"I saw him waiting for her from behind- before she ordered. ]

He was anticipating for her appearance?

[Pig spirit roared in rage from the statement while the tiny piglet nodded in confirmation. Just what did you do for a pig to orchestrate a revenge plot? Actually he could think a couple of ways, and the motive starting with a D and ends with a espair. The better question is what does the pig gain from causing a scene in the first place? So they can throw Ringo in jail? Again, they don't have any cells here probably, and death sentences are a moot point.]

[ Why is it always about "despair" for you guys... She has nothing to do with that! And even if she did, she can't even remember! Cut her some slack just this once, will ya?

Anyways, the crowd "OOOH"-ed at the piglet's testimony while Ringo's eyes widened in shock. No freakin' way... ]

So he's tryna put the blame on me from the start?! The hell! I didn't even do anything to ya!

[ The patron was silent for a while, until... they suddenly jumped on top of a table! And declares that "Yes! It was all a plot to rile that stupid girl up! And it worked, because the special ramen's all gone now! In my stomach!"

Owari, of course, became livid. ]

You... what?! [ Please stop her before she lunges at the customer and strangles them. Wouldn't want an actual murder to happen, right? ]

[Everything in this world is fuelled by either Despair or Hope, the pillars of black and white that makes up the world at large and the motivations that powers the mass of humanity day by day. Of course everything revolves around those two particular subjects, to the point despair can engineer hope just as much as despair can engineer hope. Nothing in this world is truly motivated by empty reason, to some extent apathy or empathy are in its own way hope and despair. The world isn't as simple as gray, rather a shifting perspective of black and white, or white overpowering enough to seem blindingly dark or within darkness you can find light that it isn't entirely black. How one approaches nihilism alone is powered by how much exposure they have been given by these two pillars in life. WITHOUT THESE PILLARS AS SUPPORT FOR THE EXISTENCE OF HUMANITY AND THE UNIVERSE ITSELF, IT WOULD BE WORSE THAN NIHILISM, IT WOULD BE A VOID WITHOUT ANY EMOTIONS, NO HAPPINESS NO GRIEF NO TURMOIL OR RESOLVE.

Even with something nonsensical as an argument over ramen specials.

Luna's quick on his feet to grab Ringo before there could be any bloodshed. He doesn't really want to stand any more of this nonsense than how it already is happening.]

That's enough of this argument.

[The patron keeps laughing boisterously, how the tiny and skinny human doesn't have anything else to eat.]

If you seem so confident, surely you can pay for the food.

The spirit stops laughing almost immediately, his eyes looking anywhere but Luna and Ringo. He did not think this through.]

[ Ringo's eyes slowly widen. Oh shit, he did that!!! The other patrons start cheering because maybe this is where the show ends -- on a high note.

Defeated, the pig person sighs and slams down some money on the counter. Fine, he says. Give this girl two regulars. It's the least he can do. ]

Woohoo! Free ramen! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

[ She turns to Luna and grabs his hands in gratitude. ]

Dude, thanks so much... You saved my skin AND my stomach!
